The autumn light envelops Campan Castle in a warm, golden glow. The sun gently warms the skin while Klemens harvests the fruits of his labour and a light breeze blows through the treetops, which together form a sea of contrasting colours. Brick red and golden yellow leaves glow from the trees and dark green spruce trees provide exciting colour combinations. It is the perfect time to enjoy nature in all its splendour either on a leisurely hike, during a cycle tour along the valley floor or with your sense of taste. A rich programme of events in the town of Brixen and guided tours of interesting museums and castles complete your holiday programme.

Enjoy the treasures of Autumn

A blaze of colour and a rich harvest

Autumn at Campan Castle is all about the fruit and grape harvest. For centuries, the meadows and slopes around Campan Castle have been planted with apple trees and vines, the fruit of which is now harvested, stored and processed. These include six apple varieties and two fungus-resistant grape varieties, from which fine white wine is made. In addition, the sweet apple juice is a quality product of our house, as are various jams and fruit spreads. As our house guests, you can taste all of these and also purchase them in the farm shop.

Enjoy tradition and a world heritage site

Törggelen and the Dolomites

Every autumn, the Eisack Valley is home to a special culinary tradition: The delicious aroma of roasted chestnuts and new wine wafts through the region's wine and farm taverns. At Törggelen, hearty meat platters and savoury ‘Schlutzkrapfen’ (sweet dumplings) are served. The current season's young wine is sampled, and naturally cloudy apple juice is a welcome refreshment on hikes through the colourful vineyards. Culinary highlights include the Eisack Valley Chestnut Weeks and the Bread and Strudel Market. Excursions to the nearby Dolomites, a World Heritage Site, complement the culinary experiences.

Castles, palaces, churches, festivals

Museums and events

Autumn is the ideal time for a cultural holiday: Attractive destinations such as the medieval castle complex of Rodenegg Castle and the many sights of the ancient episcopal town of Brixen beckon visitors in the fall. The Apple Festival takes place on the Natz/Schabs apple plateau during this time, culminating in the coronation of the new Apple Queen. The famous "Spatzenfest" in Castelrotto draws thousands of fans of the folk music group of the same name to the Eisack Valley in the fall. Passionate cyclists will find plenty of like-minded people at the South Tyrolean Bikefesta.
